Urquhart given the green light for North Ballarat

GAVIN Urquhart has given North Ballarat an added boost by being given the green light to play against Casey Scorpions in a Victorian Football League qualifying final at Port Melbourne on Sunday.

Urquhart looked like he might have played his last game for the year after missing the past two weeks with tendinitis.

However, the Selkirk Roosters yesterday received welcome news that the pacy utility was available.

Urquhart has played just six matches for North Ballarat this season _ meaning this will be his last appearance of the year.

He is one game short of being eligible to play on with the Roosters after North Melbourne's season is over.

Myles Sewell (shoulder) and key forward Josh Smith (nose) are the other definite inclusions for North Ballarat.

Each return after missing one week.

Each is a massive plus, with Smith giving the attack much more structure and Sewell joining Steve Clifton and Dan Feery in a hard-nose midfield.

With no obvious key forward in the absence of the North Melbourne trio of Corey Jones, David Hale and Smith, Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald used captain and regular full back Shaune Moloney as a marking target in attack

early against Geelong on Saturday.

The experiment was short-lived, with Moloney needed to bolster the defence against a rampaging Geelong.

Smith will become the second North Melbourne player to reach 50 games with the Roosters on Sunday, having played in two premierships.

Ed Lower is the other.

North Ballarat has also added Leigh Harding, Marcus White, Nick Peters, Jordan Dillon and Hale to an expanded squad.

Peters is available again after missing two games with a calf problem.

FitzGerald will finalise his line-up after North Melbourne confirms its changes today.

Where Hale plays - AFL or VFL - will almost certainly be determined by the status of fellow North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein.

If Goldstein is deemed to be over his ankle injury, Hale looks like playing with the Roosters.

To add to North Ballarat's uncertainty in the big man department, youngster Sam Conroy is carrying a sore shoulder.
